FREE RESPONSE-
This extra is about how the Astros have had a number of wins in the past week, starting off with the royals and then the kansas city. Colby Rasmus also homered for the Astros, this is great news for me because I love baseball and the Astros.
These sections are very different from the normal paper because they are more factual then normal adds that have to do more with the journalism side of the story. I believe they add these to the story to provide something for all viewers and also to give a diversity in the story type that they are reading. I believe that these should be in the normal paper because of how informative they are. And the fact that they are short and sweet can be a up and a down. Some people might want them to continue on the Astros win in mortar detail. But others who don't want to sit there and read the stories fpor a long time might like the get to the point stories better.

Current Event Quiz 1.3

1)
The message of the speech given by the pope was "to break out of its cycle of polarization and paralysis and use its power to heal the “open wounds” of a planet torn by hatred, greed, poverty and pollution". The speech was delivered to the congress. This story illustrates a huge interest because the pope is a very all known man and the fact that he traveled to deliver this speech was a big deal. This speech was historic because the pope talked about a few different things thats mean a lot all around the world. He was invited to speak by Joe Boehner
2)
The Broad difference of opinion is that whether or not racial slurs caused the incident. The students that hurt the official and going to be suspend for around a month, they will not be returning to this current football season. Coach Mack Breed resigned after this incident. Motheral was frustrated because the central figures in the incident did not appear before the committee.
3)
The action that caused many students and parents to show up in front of the school on thursday morning was because of the teacher laving the school and parents plus students wanting him to return. This affected the 6th graders because the school then became over crowded. Bryker Woods was i the same situation, but because of all the outcry she was able to come back and continue teaching.
4)
Both these men would like to know if school districts are banning openly carried firearms in parking lots, sidewalks, and driveways. This law will take effect january 1st. Whitmire interprets  the law by saying that school distracts would be allowed to ban guns in outdoor areas. Another interpretation would be that the state gun laws also do not consider parking lots, sidewalks and driveways to be apart of a "premises" where guns can be prohibited.  The authority general has 180 to reply to Whitmires question, this might not matter because the open carry law states that it will allow those with concealed handgun license to carry weapons in a hip or shoulder holster.
5)
JURY AND EX-DEPUTY'S MURDER TRIAL SAYS IT HAS REACHED AN IMPASE
Ex-deputy was accused of murder after shoot Yvette Smith just a few seconds after encountering her. The judge and jury cannot come up with an agreement for his sentence, after 17 hours of court time.
My opinion of this story is that this ex-deputy should be charged with murder. This man shot a women A FEW SECONDS after meeting her, in this article it doesn't state wheather or not she is white or black or any other race. But I did a little research and found out she was a young black women. This is so wrong on so many levels I can't believe the court hasn't decided yet.

EXTENDED RESPONSE-  Obituaries and made for people who die. Some things that you might find in an obituaries are how they died. This could sometimes be very offensive to others. I am sure many people are assigned to and obituary story.

Humans of McCallum

Damaris Bentaris said " Something bad thats happened to me? well, a few years ago, when I was 13 years old my younger brother had an electric scooter that I really wanted to try out. I decided to go on the scooter with him. It was  fun  until we approached a hill. As we  were going down the hill my younger brother yells 'the brake doesn't work', my initial thought was to jump off on to the grass to save my self from crashing into something else, then I thought what if I brake my ankle?? After that instead of crashing into something, I just fell off and scrapped up my arm and leg. "

14 year old high school student was handcuffed yesterday because he had a home made clock that resembled a bomb. The school officials said that the student looks suspicious in nature. Obama responded to this by invited him to the white house and said "his clock was cool".

FREE RESPONSE- I first learned about this tory by reading this article today in class. I believe that social media is a reliable source because the kids or anyone that writes about it is there opinion and it gives an idea of what kids our age thing
I do not agree with this placement because i think that it has a lot of human interest. The fact that a 14 year old boy got mistaken for a terrorist for building a clock that looked like a bomb was very odd for me and it should have been closer to the front of the newspaper.
